IMAGINAL is a space for discovering coherence. This is our first experimental session occurring in Chicago where we will imagine and develop a shared future together, grounded in real world initiatives and speculative infrastructure coming into existence at this moment. The cumulative experience intends to reveal a shared horizon we may concretely aim toward. The relationships we develop and nurture over three days provides baseline, foundational trust allowing us to move quickly together. You are now being called to join us to invoke our super human power to imagine and collectively observe new futures into existence, supported by new breakthrough technology.
DISPATCH 2036:
Welcome to Coherences 2036 where you will join a member delegation emanating from The Great Plains Bioregional Sovereign Wealth Fund. Much has happened since we first initiated our series of gatherings 10 years ago. Please be prepared to share a 5 minute presentation of your Project Future. This is the work you are currently and passionately engaged in and seek to bring to fruition in the coming years.
As in previous Coherences, your projects will be incorporated into the the AuraEngine and Cascade Scenario Planning tool in realtime, and complement core bioregional infrastructure already in place. This is the work of our Assembly.

We cross the threshold into 2036, stepping into character as stewards of planetary wealth funds, bioregional commons, tech collectives, and civic councils. Grounded in ancestral intelligence, deep time, and storytelling, we set the foundation and hear lightning dispatches from the 2036 landscape.

Midday, including lunch. Working in cross-sector pods (spanning capital, critical infrastructure, and civic imagination) we draft collaborative responses to systemic challenges. Over an in-character working lunch and trade floor, teams negotiate shared initiatives and pitch them to the full 2036 Council.

The roleplay drops. We reveal who we are today in 2026, unpack what emerged during our 2036 experiences and backcast our fictional alliances into real commitments, identifying immediate capital sources, testbeds, and partnerships to build now. We close with a grounding circle and concrete next steps.

OBAMA LIBRARY TOUR
10.12, MONDAY AFTERNOON
The roughly $850 million project covers the political and personal realms of the nation’s first Black president. The sprawling campus feature the museum tower a new library, basketball court and picnic area with grills.
“This is a safe space for people to come and, yes, reflect on the historic moments of this presidency and the campaigns, but also to come together as a community to think about what change you can bring to your own neighborhood,” Josh Harris, the Obama Foundation’s vice president of public engagement.
THE RIVER JOURNEY
10.13, TUESDAY LATE AFTERNOON
A 90-minute chartered immersion on the Chicago River, co-narrated by Friends of the Chicago River, the only organization dedicated to restoring the Chicago-Calumet River system.
Participants will use the river as a working model for navigating complexity and interdependence. Through story, guided observation, peer dialogue, and reflection, participants will read the river as a living system and explore what its patterns reveal about adaptation, relationship, stewardship, and collective action.
